Life
Daniel B. Wheeler. After graduation from LUHS in 1970, went to Oregon State University for 5 years, finishing with a BS in Music Education in 1975. Taught band and choir for 5 years in Maupin, John Day, and Lincoln County. In 1980 met my first life partner, Lawrence C. Moorehead. Stated move to Portland on May 18th, the day Mt. Was president, vice president, and trufflemaster of North American Truffling Society. Had a new species of truffle named after me: Tuber wheeleri. Have found about 35 collections of species new to science. Most have not yet been named. Some may later have my name attached to them.
Since 1980 have been working at The Oregonian Publishing Company, first as a temporary employee, then stopped for about 2 months, and was hired as a full-time employee in 1986.
